How to Publish a Book That’s One Step Up from a Baby Book

Filed under: How To Publish A Book — Book Publishers Expert @ 7:22 pm

Baby books are those keepsakes that mothers everywhere have filled out for generations. We all know the drill; with the first baby we recorded every precious detail in its entirety – capturing pictures, writing down anecdotes, and even immortalizing the birth experience with every juicy detail. Then with the following child – and any children to follow after that – the stories get shorter and the details recorded in the baby books less and less. It’s simply a matter of time; with more children to care for and a life that has become increasingly hectic, there seems to be precious little time in the day to do anything “extra” including filling in the baby book.

The modern age has brought other options, however; including the option for self publishing. If we are going to take the time to fill out the traditional cutesy baby book, then we can certainly take the time to learn how to publish a book that will be more than a keepsake and more like a family heirloom that will be passed from generation to generation.

Through self publishing websites, parents can detail whatever they think will be pertinent to their child in later years – and what they themselves will want to read years from now when the memories are less than fresh. There are many options in choosing what to record – each parent can write their own memories from the day the baby was born; detail the actual birth experience; capture those first days after bringing the baby home; if there are siblings and they are old enough to write, perhaps they can write their first impressions when their new brother or sister was brought home.

After the story is completed, writers can upload the work to a self publishing website where it will be printed according to their specifications. Parents can choose everything from book binding to paper stock, and then have their finished “baby book” – much more than the traditional baby book – delivered to their door to be cherished for a lifetime.
