How to Publish a Book Without Compromise
Having a creative spirit can be difficult – especially when you use that creativity to create products that are ultimately mean to be sold. Then it quickly becomes a process of balancing the creativity with that which will be able to be effectively marketed so as to make money. For writers, this balancing act plays out in the world of book publishing where – if they are lucky enough to be read and accepted by the traditional book publishers – will then engage in the process of tailoring their creativity to something that can be successfully sold. This process – should anyone be lucky enough to be grappling with it – can be difficult and many writers find the need to compromise their creative license very off putting.
For most writers, however, they are not able to reach the pinnacle where they are in talks with traditional book publishers that are offering to pay them a certain amount of money for their manuscript – a payment that certainly makes whatever creative compromise that has to be made much more palatable. But for those writers that find themselves out on their own, they will find there are benefits to going it alone; namely in terms of not having to compromise their integrity.
Self publishing – that which can now be found online for the ease and convenience of writers – allows authors to essentially publish their own work. There are many benefits inherent in self publishing, not the least of which is the opportunity for writers to take the creative process past the writing stage and into the publishing stage where they are able to make their own choices and chose those elements that will best customize their work. Better still, self publishing allows the work to be published as the writer intended for it to be – with every word being chosen by the writer themselves.
